Teacher Lisa is a trained children's yoga instructor and has been certified by It's Yoga Kids in San Francisco. She has also received advanced certification from Yoga with Kate and Rosey run by two of the premier children's yoga trainers in the Bay Area. In addition, she is schooled in the practice of Ashtanga yoga. Lisa has seen over and over how transformative yoga can be for all
children, especially those with sensory and developmental difficulties. Lisa received her Masters in Counseling Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin in 1994 and has experience teaching in and designing curriculum for pre-school, elementary school and corporate settings. Lisa has 3 young children whom she views as both her inspiration and her best teachers. Daily life with them inspired the creation of the stretch.play.yoga curriculum.
Hillary Easom: Instructor
We are so excited to add Teacher Hillary to our staff as a certified stretch.play.yoga instructor. A lifelong athlete, Hillary was introduced to yoga in 1997
after suffering a rowing injury. She immediately embraced the benefits
of the physical postures and later discovered that yoga transformed her
life in many other ways as well. Hillary has practiced various yoga
styles over the years but fell in love with the creativity and flow of
vinyasa yoga, a moving meditation. She also credits prenatal yoga for
very easy pregnancies and births. (Her two children have been yogis
since they were in utero!) Hillary earned her Masters in Secondary
Education at the University of Washington in 1997. She was a classroom
teacher and a writer for many years before pursuing an adult yoga
certification at Avalon Yoga Center in Palo Alto, studying with Anirudh
Shastri and John Berg. Hillary views the combination of two
passions—yoga and teaching—as a real gift in her life, and she is very
excited to be part of the stretch.play.yoga staff.
Heather Davila: Instructor
Teacher Heather has been a great addition to our incredible staff. Heather found her passion for yoga ten years ago through the practice of Anasura Yoga. It's playful nature through story telling and its heartfelt approach truly confirmed for her that yoga could be transforming. After starting a family in 2004, Heather found that bringing yoga into her home brought smiles to her children's faces and a gift of sharing that will grow as her children grow. She is certified to teach yoga to children from It's Yoga kids in San Francisco, as well as a Silicon Valley stretch.play.yoga instructor.
Lea Pence: Instructor
Teacher Lea came to yoga in 1997 at Baron Baptiste studio and has practiced ever since. Lea believes that her connection to body through yoga and other physical activites gives her clarity of self, flexibility of mind, and betters her self control, strength, self image and her ability to set limits. Her belief that yoga can do the same for others has inspired her to teach yoga to children and families. Prior to becoming a mom to her three children and joining stretch.play.yoga as an instructor, Lea taught English and coached Lacrosse for eight years at the middle and high school levels at Castilleja School in Palo Alto and at a private boarding school in northern MA. We are lucky to have her as part of the stretch.play.yoga team.
Karin Sargis:
Instructor
Teacher Karin is a wonderful addition to our amazing team of stretch.play.yoga instructors. Karin, who received her Children's and Family Yoga Instructor Certification from Yoga with Kate and Rosey at Nandi Yoga Studio in San Mateo, has been influenced by many different styles of yoga. She finds that her own practice helps her to find harmony. In addition, she receives great personal rewards from involving her two young children in her practice. Karin has been sharing her joy of yoga with other children and families since 2008 through playful and creative classes involving music, songs and rhymes. In addition, Karin has been working with children in the Bay Area for over 5 years as a preschool teacher and preschool fitness instructor. Karin is from the Czech Republic where she received her Masters in Teaching at the Palacky University.
Alice Van Ness: Instructor
Teacher Alice is an Anusara-Inspired Yoga Instructor. She has been practicing yoga since 1997 and teaching since 2006. She now has over 500 hours of training in the San Francisco Bay Area and in Seattle. The teachings of Anusara have been both healing and transformative for her life and body, expanding her practice to a new level in a short period of time. Alice makes her classes fun, while challenging students to go deeper. She is a humorous, passionate, knowledgeable, and giving instructor. She works with students of all ages and abilities, teaching both children's and family yoga. Alice has worked with children since she was a teenager and finds them to be a great way to remember to stay in the present and have fun.We are glad to have her as pat of the stretch.play.yoga team.
Vanessa Kahlon: Instructor/Specialist
Teacher Vanessa has been trained as a children and family yoga instructor by Mini Yogis in Los Angeles. In addition to being a stretch.play.yoga instructor, Vanessa founded Kahlon Family Services, a Behavioral and Early Intervention Consulting Service. She has her Masters in Clinical Psychology and has been working for over a decade with families who have children with developmental and learning challenges. Vanessa has been utilizing yoga for several years to help children who have ADHD, Anxiety and autism. We feel lucky to have her as part of our team.
Megan Keane: Instructor
Teacher Megan sees yoga as a lifelong journey where there is always something to learn along the path. She regularly teaches both adult, teens, and kids yoga around the bay area and volunteer teaches at San Francisco Juvenile Hall. Her breath-centered classes focus on building strength and flexibility, de-stressing from the challenges of daily life (including that computer!), and finding joy and humor in the process. Megan received her kids yoga certification through the Mini Yogis Teacher Training program and training for teaching yoga to children with autism. She’s a RYT and certified Forrest Yoga teacher, having completed the Forrest Yoga Foundations and Advanced training with Ana Forrest and an Anusara yoga teacher training with Jim and Ruthie Bernaert and Carlos Pomeda. Megan’s sincere wish is to share with students the joy and value that yoga has brought her.
